Calling all blacksmith ladies and gentlemen I am currently looking to find as much information as I can I'm new to blacksmithing I do have the basic knowledge and understanding of metal work.  I guess I was looking to share web sites, publications and just general knowledge.  I have a feeling that there's a great volume of knowledge here just waiting to be tapped.

So start off with I will share some of the web sites and I've stumbled across.

http://gpba.abana-chapter.com/
This is the local chapter of blacksmith arsons for the Kansas area I am currently waiting for contact back from them and will let you know how that turns out.

http://www.forgetools.com/links.htm

just a group of interesting links I've found.  Most of these are pretty good.

http://www.anvilfire.com/
this site is a massive site careful stepping into this one you could get lost for days there is a forum here is fairly active list as lots of good information.

https://www.blacksmithsdepot.com/
other site full of lots of interesting information, tools, books and videos. The Backyard Blacksmith by Lorelei Sims is a book that is available here, several people told me this book is well worth the money.

For now I'll leave these here please add yours, all information is welcome.

I've been to the basic blacksmithing class and was pleased with the level of experience both gained and present in the instructors. Just saw the Inkle loom class. Hmmmmm

Oops. It helps to copy the link into the message.  rdfce

http://www.historicarts.com/classes.html

This is a group based here in KC with a big smithy set up full time at the Renaissance Fair at Bonner Springs, Ks.

Some of their members are also into weaving and historic cooking. In fact the meals served at the day long smithing classes were really tasty!

Don't get too excited crazell this stuff is all out east, they don't have stuff like that around these parts.

Otter

EAST? Who you a calling EAST??  hntr  That'd be either the Midwest or Central states thank you very much. Tell 'em Harvey we are not Easterners!!! Now if you were talking about those hi faultin folks from St. Louis then yes that would be East. We poor relations here by the bank of the Muddy Mo are still considered on the frontier of civilization by those living on the banks of the Mississippi. Oh my was that a sore nerve that got touched. No offense meant or taken of course. Especially since we really are East of ya'll. Let me know if anyone is coming this way and we can get together for some BBQ and a jug! chrrs

crazell

Otter you have to remember , there is only about 60-80 miles left going west of us.  I know what yer saying though.. I'd like to come out your way. Especially for Brew and BBQ. now your talking fat guy language.. ROFL

Otter

I do know most of the neighborhood BBQ joints that are worth going to. Seems like every area has their own joint too. We have a couple of local breweries that turn out a real nice product. Give me a heads up if you do come this way. The coffee pot is usually ready and can sometimes find a jug that those other scoundrels haven't gotten to.

Cool monkeywright ask him about oregon for me. Thanks

monkeywright
