I'm sure most of you know that the Army Surplus has 2-3 types of wool blanket's.. they have a solid white, grey with a white stripe and a brownish green one as well. the brownish green one does have an Army stamp on it, but only on one side. they range in price for about $20.00 to $25.00 dollars. they are thick enough for many uses...just thought i would put that out there..  flwa

They also have a high content of man made fibers in them. THe green ones do any way. Not sure about the others. I find good 100% wool blankets at yard sales and junk stores

I've found several at those as well.. 2ND hand stores, church bazaar's too!  the grey and white ones are Italian, hot little blankets.. flwa

If you buy army blankets you want european blankets , english ,irish, german , norwegian . they are all very high quality wool blankets ! stay away from the american o.d. blankets , they are`nt warm and they are itchy as hell !

Yeah tell me about it I made like a small coat outta one. Warm but kinda itchy.

try washing it with woolite , and use a fabric softener . it takes out a lot of the itch factor !

I grw up snuggled in them army blankets,to this day I love em' the ones we had were always 100 percent wool they started sliding away from that later we got ours from base supply and they dated to ww2 sometimes but maybe the old man picked em out some are 100 percent,One time in the marines I got one that was a wierd herringbone kind of wool material, thin and sucked I found another in the company spec. services closet and tradedit!

The grey and the white ones are soft and not itchy. It was suggested that I wash them in woolite. I have washed them in woolite since I purchased them. after awhile they stink and could use some freshening up. don't mind the smell so much, but the wife does... flwa

I have one I was issued back in the day which instead of OD green was AF Blue with the white U.S. in the middle.  Only one I ever saw like that and it is still nice and warm so I will keep it whole and use it in my bedroll...

My dad had a few of those he was in the air force, I should ask my mom what they did with'em. Wool is wool ya gotta love it.
