I was pretty well out of ideas then thought about "Wild Willy " Frankfort and his outstanding work when I met him at the HCH meeting in Roscoe Village last spring, so I tried one of Willy's folk art suns on the back of this horn.
Oak plugs, turned antler spout and slightly distressed...apologies to Willy!

Never thought about a salt horn,  hdslp  makes sense    maybe a use for one of them buff horns I kinda smoothed out.  Maybe the salt help seal up some of those big flakes/scales  that run thru then thick things.  thanks for idea.

great looking salt horn. been thinking about getting one. I could try and make one but it would probably be ugly

I think just about anyone can make a salt horn!...Heck, why does it have to be pretty? .. It holds salt for you!  There were a lot more "plain Jane" salt horns than engraved one's anyway!

GO FOR IT!
