The Single Action Shooting Society (S.A.S.S.) holds their Championship matches in Phoenix at the Ben Avery Range, about 10 minutes from my house. They call it Winter Range. I always go to pick up the makin's for ammo for my .45 LC's.

This is the fast draw competition. The targets are linked & the first one hit lights up to show the winner.

This is one of 12 stages. Most matches consist of at least 10 pistol, 10 rifle & 2 shotgun targets, which have to be shot in a specific order. Do the math, 12 stages of shooting is a minimum of 264 rounds & actually it is closer to 300. Not cheap to compete, by any means. A lot of guys reload, & that helps some, but a fair number are buying ammo off the shelf. There is also a BP class, among a dozen or so different classes. Period dress is required to compete, some folks go all out & spend a small fortune on clothing.

Another stage...
All of this is done with volunteer labor.

Next week the NMLRA puts on the Western National Shoot in the same place. I will be trading there...
