I went to a local event to see what was going on, not thinking of the people that I might know when I got there...
I`d been doing Civil War re-enacting in the past, but had made friends with a few Mt. Man types along the years.
Got there & someone asked if I`d forgotten my "good" clothes... something about me looking like a flatlander hdslp
They were getting pics of their group & I was told to get myse`f dressed  so I could be included in with them.
I decided that  it was time for me to expand my historical (hysterical?) persona... so here i am, almost looking like I belong,,, that problem has been corrected since this pic was taken, I reset the Wayback Machine to 1800 (give or take a few years) & put my caplock toys back in the cabinet, broke out the flinters  & am having more fun now that I`d had in a long time...  Seems like it was a good thing that I didn`t wear the butternut & grey that day.

They do take it very serious that's for sure!
I watched as 2 guys argued about a 3 band Enfield being correct or not and thought they would come to blows over it.
Turns out it was a real enfield and the two had been friends for 30 years! pnic

Im my misspent youth, I played the C.W. game for a few years, but then reality settled in (along with a new leading Lady & a lil one to keep fed, clothed & housed).  The days of going to W.VA. 1 weekend, N.C. the next, & off to TN. the following got to be sorta expensive for a guy who`s big job was to fall down "dead" several times a weekend when our cannon was "blown up" by them Nawth`nrs.    [conf] Powder monkeys seemed to make good targets for their snipers, I`m told... Anyway, yep, those clothes were borrowed that weekend, but now I`m sportin` some decent brain tanned britches, hunting shirt, & moose hide mocs.  Took a while to get the "nice clothes", but I`m not lookin like a fancy pants easterner anymore either.  Unfortunately, I spend more time takin pics of friends at `vous than I do standin in front of the lens so someday in the near future (like after it warms up a little) I might let the spirit stealer get another peek at me so that I`ve got a better pic to show off. cuch
By the way, those bottles were props of the photog guy for "added realism" or some such thing as that... ???
