I even had a few say they wouldnt have anyone other than well drillers with electronic equipment locate water for em cuz it was referred to as witching and they felt it was witchcraft and was of the devil. When the guy who was with the one who called it witching said he knew someone who did dowsing they were willing to ask me to do it for them--not realizing I was the same person the other had recommended to them. Seems some people cant get past how things are presented verbally.
Some people wont believe anything unless it is able to be scientifically proven or explained.

yeah the gentleman i was reading about from the evansville area claimed he'd been called warlock, devil worshiper, all sorts of things, all because people think that what he can do is evil.

Scientific or not, I'm a believer.  My dad use to use a Y made out of a peach limb.  When I was building my log cabin and got ready to drill a well a friend of mine use two brass welding rods bent like an L.  When they crossed X marked the spot.  We had two places that were hits.  One was extremely strong, I even tried it and it crossed for me.  When the well driller drilled the well we hit water at 288 ft it was 55-60 gallons a minute.  It was like we hit a gizer.  It must be a underwater river.  So call it witchcraft , dowsing, or whatever you want to it works!

yeah my intention is to eventually have a piece of my own property and did a well, id love to dowse my own. my plan is to drill my well first then build my cabin around it so i can have a very primitive form of indoor water.

Give it a try and let us know if it works for you. As for having the well under the house, there used ta be several of em up here like that but the county made em all get their wells outside -- for some reason they claimed if it was in the house the well wasnt sanitary. Never mind the outhouse was a good distance from the cabins and the sink drain led out past the outhouse. In fact in one case, the well was drilled closer to the outhouse than it was when it was under the house--go figure that one out. Seems to me that if its closer to the outhouse it would be more likely to become contaminated-- but the county said it cant be there so they had no choice and moved it.

well when the day comes that i get my own little piece of heaven, id like to see the county or anybody tell me what i can and cannot do. dig the well first or have it drilled and then build the cabin or glorified shack around it with the kitchen area at the well pump, fix me a basin underneath for the sink for general handwashing, and what not and let it drain out down hill from the house to the garden, which will be above the outhouse.  thats my plan... oh.. and a BIG gate up front.
