Let us not forget to thank our veterans for all you did to make this country strong and free.  Without their sacrifices we would not enjoy the freedoms we do today.   To them I say "Salute and thank you."  flwa flwa

Redhawk Thank you for your thoughts.
I went to my Gradson's school today for a Veteran's Day tribute.
I was ask by a Young teacher how she could tell her students how they were to repay the veterans for what we have done for them. I tried to tell her that They could not repay us as it had already been paid. This system is a pay forward deal. Meaning the the veterans of WWII paid for my generations freedom, and the Veit Nam vets paid for their parants freedom and This generation of vets are paying for their freedom and that some day they will be ask to do the same for the next generation. I told the teacher that wall they need to do is remember that the veterans of to the past gave much for them I hope I was able make her understand what I was trying to say, I have no idea how she is going make a group 1st graders understand.

yes thank you for the thoughts Redhawk... I too have been absent all day did the Parade thing this morning and a POW-MIA Ceremony for an ex POW this afternoon... I must have talked to 100 kids and 40 - 50 active duty/Reserve/guardsman today along with a ton of vets who came before me.... best memory I have of today was a child about 10 who could not believe it when I jumped out of the car I was in and went up to a vet in full uniform (WW II Army) in a wheelchair and shook his hand and thanked him for his service... The kid asked why I did that.  I did not really know what to say and as the car was pulling away I just said " He fought for me - like I fought for you."  the kids mom smiled at me and said she would explain it to him....

THANK YOU TO ALL THE VETS on this site... Some of you  fought for me, others fought for our children and grandchildren...

On Sunday, the church my wife serves had a dinner for veterans, active duty inc. Guard and Reserves, and their families. It was open to the community and there was a pretty good turn out. From WWII to Guardsmen in their BDU's. This was the first time they tried it and have already started planning next year's dinner. Since I am a Viet-Nam era ex-flyboy, my wife insisted I had to go.  flwa

I too spent the day and late in the evening visiting different Veterans events around the area. Ran into some Vets that I served with at different times of my military career, had no idea they were in the area. All in all, a happy and sorrowful day all at the same time. My thanks to all who has served.
