Boone by Cameron Judd
A good book about the man we all know about but fictionalized to make the reading of the history a bit easier.
(With Boone Legend, History & Fiction are intertwined to some extent anyway)
A good book to set next to the fireplace with on a day you aren't in the woods!

I never got around to mentioning, Judd's novel "Crockett Of Tennessee" is also well-worth the read. Like "Boone" it mixes fact and fiction (and as with the life of Daniel Boone it's hard to sort the myth from the reality of the life of Crockett) but is a very well-written and entertaining tale. There is a scene between a teenaged Crockett and his father, involving a family debt the young man has worked off without his father's knowledge, that is liable to bring tears to your eyes.

How ironic!  StormRider recently gave me this novel, Crockett of Tennessee amongst an entire box of similar books that includes Judd's Boone.

So read them William and then ship them to me!   bunkr

Thank you William!  I was joking when I said to ship the books to me but he did it and I am enjoying them ("Aready finished one and waiting for Bulldog Lady to finish the other so I can read it).

Next person to ask and PM me their address will get these books IF they promise to pass them on to another member of the forum and so on... So we can start a kind of revolving book liberary....

;D  Be sure that you ship the books as media so you'll get the best rate through the USPS but don't seal up the box until they have actually seen the books.

I am deep into "Slaughter at Goliad" plus I have another book waiting for me to read it so I thought you'd get better use out of them, but what a great idea to pass them along like this.

That is a good idea, I need to go through the box of books that Stormrider gave me and list them here.

I'm not normally too quick to suggest a new category to post in, but rather than let this idea get lost in the shuffle I believe I will run it by the rest of the staff. This is one of the best candidates for a new, separate category I've seen in a good while.

Yes that is a good idea.
Some of the better reads are getting kind of hard to find.
Might do it with VCR and DVD's too?!

I am already looking into where to put the liberary and we might as well include DVD's and such.  I will have some rules posted after I talk to an attorney friend of mine who tries to keep me out of trouble...   pnic
