Never bought from this particular seller before, but these look to be deals and then some if the prices don't go too high. The first one is a barrel off one of the CVA Mountain Rifles, not the shorter Hawken. I just tapped myself out buying three similar barrels from another seller or I'd be all over this. Wouldn't mind winning the .32 tube, either -- or the T/C for that matter.

Man, I'm a sick puppy. I have a barrel fetish. I need help, desperately. A pickup bed load of plain-grade stock blanks to install all this iron in would probably go a long way toward a cure. Could somebody please out of the goodness of their heart make that happen? :D :D :D

Is there any problem getting a breech-block for a CVA??

Do you mean the tang the breechplug hooks into? They can be a little difficult. For some reason when the barrels are separated from the stocks on rifles that are being parted out, either the tang stays with the stock or is sold as a separate item altogether. Somewhere out there, there is a huge pile of tangs with no barrels hooked into them -- like a tang treasure trove.

On the two CVA barrels listed in these auctions, Track Of The Wolf sells an Investarms tang, very similar to the T/C item, which can be made to work with the type of hook these have. It's much harder to get it to work with the CVA breechplugs that have the button-type hook. I believe Track sells these for $4.99 plus shipping, so if the lack of a tang is all you're concerned about I would say bid and just figure on buying a tang afterward, if you won. Five minutes of work with a file will fit the tang perfectly to the barrel and you can simply extend the tang inlet in the CVA stock to accept the Investarms item.

Thanks Mongrel, ya I did mean the tang. I might just try for the 32 barrel. I have a spare CVA stock, so who knows.

Bull, I see you bid on the .32 barrel. I was going to, but I'll back off to give you a chance.

Good Luck

Just the rear sight from that T/C barrel will go for up to $30 on ebay.  I always wonder what happened to the rest of the rifle or are they just parting it out to get more.  I guess sometimes the whole isn't worth as much as the sum of its parts.

Sorry, RM didn't see yer post til after.....that's my only offer so if it gets any higher she's all yers!

You sure??
What I do is wait closer to the end time to decide, depending on where it's at.

You hit it spot on !!
A few years ago I had the FN FAL bug real bad , building all the different variations of them . A lot of folks would buy up the demilled parts sets and(canabalize) break them down and sell by the piece and quadruple their money. Same with AK's and AR's . There is this still going on with some of the more sought after guns such as the pre 64 Winchesters  >:(

all yers, RM...got out bid.......

It's not going to take much for me to loose interest either.
They've stripped it completely. Nipple, sights, even the wedge underlug is gone. Somethings strange here. Salvaged from a fire maybe??

Probably not. It's the same deal as what I mentioned about the tangs, earlier. When people strip these guns down to sell the parts separately they do so with the thought of maximum profit and absolutely no concern for which parts by all rights ought to stay together. If a nipple can be unscrewed, an underrib removed, a ramrod slid out of its thimbles, it's sold separately. The only reason I would guess the drum is still threaded into either of the CVA barrels I gave links to, is that after a period of time both the drum and breechplug on CVAs are notoriously difficult to remove without tearing things apart.

My comments on the practice of stripping guns down to the last possible small part isn't intended as judgement one way or another -- a person pays money for a gun, it's his right to do with it as he wishes. It is frustrating, though, to want to buy something and realize that to get the complete item you have to bid and win in three, four, or more auctions. It's also equally my right to pass an auction by because the main item I would like to acquire is essentially worthless without the several other minor (sometimes not so minor) bits and pieces the seller has opted to part out.

Interesting. This far along and no one's bid on the T/C.

God I wish I had some money.... ;D I know, I know, get in line and STHU.

Oldnamvet

Something not right about the T/C.  They took off the front sight but not the rear.  That one is easy to take off (normally) and sells easy.  That makes me cautious.  I probably think too much.

Plus the breechplug's been yanked but not the underrib and thimbles or, like you say, the rear sight. Hmm. Breechplug is by far the most likely thing to be impossible or at least difficult to remove.

Maybe the previous owner was someone like me -- pirated whatever parts he needed for another project and either had no need of or lost interest in the rest. Though losing interest in a tube with a good bore is NOT something I could see myself ever doing....
