The problem with pricing hand made goods like this is that if you charge an hourly rate it would be out of anyones price range. If you charge a piece rate to keep the consumers cost low you are not makking any money for all the hours you put into it.
My wife knits wool socks for Authentic Civil War Re Enactors. her price is $35 per pair. Alot of you may say that you would never pay 35 bucks for a pair of socks. Think of this though. It takes her 4 skeins of hand spun/dyed wool. and about 15 to 20 hours to finish a pair. The wool she uses is $4 a skien. That right there is $16. so for her labor of 15 to 20 hours she is making .93 cents  per hour, that is if we go with 15 hours as apposed to 20 hours. She dose not make socks as a source of income, she dose it because she enjoys it. So that weighs into it as well.
The same is true when I make a hand sewn shirt for some one. I do not enjoy making shirts.
I would say for your work I would ask for $150 to $200. depending on what his finances will allow. You cant stick it to a guy but you need to get apid as well.If you enjoy doing it charge less.

I agree, the price of 150.00 to 200.00 is a fair price for such good work ,keep it up !

It is such a nice piece that I would be afraid to use it and I won't have something I can't use.

Yeah I used to think that way - put Patients fancy horn in a plexy glass case and carry it - but they didn't feel that way back then,  the bag in question is being used and that was the whole intention.  have it and enjoy it , just like your guns.  Getting ready to do another bag from scratch and hopefully it will find a good home and be used.. again thanks to all you guys for the complements.    Di
