He told me he was going to sell it for $1500, I told him that it was way too cheap. Next time I talked to him it was $1800, I told him it was way too cheap. I don't know what it will be next time but I told him nothing under $3000, and I wouldn't sell it for less that $5000. I guess I should go get it and set it in the front yard with a flower on it because it is going to do nothing but go up in price in the future, ray

Then again there isn't much demand for an anvil that heavy. Thats not exactly "portable"...I have a 300 I've been trying to sell with no takers...not for sale any longer.

YUP,I'm afraid we are the last generation of people who does "stuff" Now folks expect to push a button and VOILA! It's done. Was a time tools and equipment never lasted when listed [hmm]

I would not mind having a 750 lb anvil. That way the local junk thieves would not carry it off, it would be to much work. ROFL ROFL

I wouldn't go writing off people EVER going back to the old ways.  It's a cyclical thing, and right now it seems new, cheap and fast is winning out.

But people are already grasping that new isn't all that great, cheap is a very accurate characterization for this stuff (VERY cheap, in many cases),  and fast isn't necessarily satisfying.  Fast food isn't very good food, and fast stuff doesn't satisfy in the long run either.

It will eventually turn around, though it's a frustrating wait in the meantime...

Best keep your hand in and stay in shape, when the tide turns, it may be a Tsunami and the skills that we posses will be a necessity, not a luxury, (dark omen off)

I,m afraid at this point and time a anvil that heavy is not in great demand. There might be a few folks looking for one of that size , but they would be few. Also make and condition will have a great affect on price. For quite a spell aanvils in the 80 to 200lb range were normally about 1 to 1 =1/2 dollars a pound in good condition and American made. Not too long ago I saw a large swage block go for under $500.00  If it were mine I,d hang on it, As was said, never know when things might go in reverse. [hmm]
Hey Dave how you doing? havn,t see you posting on the TMA forum for a while. dntn
