I had a nipple blow out once and I would not have a right eye if I was not wearing shooting glasses! The left eye may or may not have survived the blowout. My hearing is bad from the machinery I operate to make a living and I want to protect what is left.
I WEAR SHOOTING GLASSES AND HEARING PROTECTION AND I DON'T CARE IF IT IS PERIOD CORRECT OR NOT.
I do not think period correctness should ever come befor safty being a lead man over a manitness deparment I allways tell my guys I dont care how much longer it takes to do a job it has to be done safley

Used to blow things up for the army, then worked at a truck stop with 6+ trucks running/startingup,
then most of 40 years of construction. It all has taken it's toll. BUT Rock n' Roll had NOTHING to do
with it!!!!
It's funny, my wife tells folks I don't hear well, I have to read their lips. But at home it's "You don't
listen!" hdslp

[hmm] Just heard from an ol mountain man friend,Left eye Larry, got me to wonderin. How many here wear shootin glasses an ear plugs when playin wif yur smokepole.(Awww Badger...git yur mind outa the gutter.)
Yep, certified shooting glasses and custom molded ear plugs.  I got into that habit when I went through the LE academy, half my instructors were already deaf from the old school theory that in a shootout one doesn't have time to put on glasses and ear plugs so you don't practice that way either.

I don't remember a time when I shoot when I don't wear protection. When I was taught, in the 1960's, I remember a day where I had to go sit down 100 yards from where everybody was shooting because I forgot my earmuffs. About an hour into it Dad came over with some Kleenex and taught me how to chew on it and make it pliable enough to fit in my ears. I had to borrow somebody's glasses when it was my turn to shoot. They made me work for them too. It is funny, I NEVER FORGOT MY GLASSES OR HEARING PROTECTION AFTER THAT. Funny how Professor Experience can be such an unforgiving but thorough teacher.

At all times when shooting or around shooting.
