I have made quite a few knives before, but this is the first I have made using steel stock, forming the blade, heat treating it all myself. I honestly don't know what the steel is, it was just scrap I found, but it holds a good edge and retains it pretty well after I chopped through some wood blocks I had. I heated it to a cherry red quenched in water (I know oil is better, but had non available), then tempered it at 500 degrees for 15 minutes, until it was a deep straw color. I then quenched it again in water. The antler is off of a roadkill this past fall. I epoxied it in there. I colored the epoxy black to simulate natural resin. The sheath is latigo, overlayed with deer hide from my deer I shot last December. It is completely sewn by hand. The blade length is 3 and 3/4" and overall length of 7 and 1/4". Should make a pretty handy neck knife, I just haven't gotten around to putting the lace on it yet. Let me know what yall think!! Not bad me thinks. I'm happy I was able to put my makers mark on it.

Looks real good. How long did it take you to make them?

I took my time due to not having all the proper tools to shape the blade, so two days. But I could knock one out in a day I reckon. I have my sheath making down pat, I can put one out in 45 min from bare leather to complete. I'm still working on my quill work, but I did make one sheath with my first attempt at it on it. I'll take a pic later but it ain't that great. I do not have a furnace here, so it is entirely done with a propane torch, so I am limited on the size of my blades right now. One day I'll build a forge when I own my own place... one day. I have more steel and am going to order some 1045 sheet steel, so I'll be making more. I have everything else here I need, and see no other use for it. Hehe. Keeps me busy between work days... pnic
