Like many others you have probably seen numerous posts on the making of black powder.  Of course, discounting all the claims that that be best left to government thought police to regulate, has anyone tried doing it?

I know all the blaa blaa blaa must be spouted about how we will all die if  we even attempt to circumvent the various regulating bodies but aside from that aspect how has it worked out?

In the spirit of our " muzzle loading on the cheap" I fully realize the the home manufacture of BP  does not, at the moment, make home made BP  cheaper.

there are instructions here in one of the old posts from a year ago... and the topic had a lot of replies - I have never tried it... I did make some relatively good homemade plastic at one time but won't do that again... I promised my P.O.    :mini-devil-28492:

hate to say it but I think thats the way our sport is going thanks to the mindless idiots in washington, hell I have to make my own cigarrettes now! But knowing how to make powder might save your life in the not too distant future-just be sure to get a good recipe for it and remember that even back in the old days, powder factories did "have accidents" so prudence and caution are words to live by...

That seems simple enough. I guess you just need to know how much of each strpot. Don't need no accidents!!! thmbsup

If you make it it will go boom!  the original dupont works had several major accidents - and they had vary excessive safety requirements for the time period!  I would suggest a bunker in the far corner of your property only make small amounts at a time (easier to rebuild a little powder mill than a big one!)
