Which one does it for you; store bought or do it yourself pillow ticking?

If neither is your choice please tell us what you use.

killer

Pillow ticking is just easier for me, and more available.

NAULTRICK1

Pillow ticking usually but sometimes, depending on the gun and the tolerances old cotton t's

old salt

Pillow ticking or dry patches
All gave some Some gave all

The Old Salt

Wyoming Mike

I use whatever works the best in a particular rifle.  Most of them use ticking but some need light denim, duck or canvas.

beowulf

pillow ticking ! but I`ve used squirrel skins that were worked until dry and soft ,with a bit of crisco rubbed into them ! actually work pretty danged good !  ;D

Ironwood

I checked "something else" but I do use pillow ticking when I run out of denim and canvas.  I get some of my best groups from my .50 caliber using canvas.

Ranger

Ticking. Most of the time.

DEADDAWG

Pillow ticking always. I buy it by the 10 yard bolt (of course I use it for other things as well). I wash and dry it hot at least three times to shrink it and full it to .018/.020 thick. I usually loose a half yard in length and 3 inches in width. It's then real soft and holds the lube well. From there I work my ball size and loads up around my patch. Also, I cut at the muzzle.

Bear Medicine

I use spit-patch homespun cotton.  I prefer thinner patches which are easier to load.  I also found that lubed patches and a flintlock don't mix.  After the first shot, you've got grease on your flint and frizzen.

squirrel

Cotton Dish Cloth from the Dollar Store, rewashed, cut into strips, and lubed with Track of the Wolf Mink Oil.  I tie the strip to my pouch and cut as needed.   Works for me .............

Hanshi

That's the thing about MLing, part of the fun is doing stuff yourself.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

alsask

Light weight denim with Crisco lube.  A couple of day ago I tried Hoppes Plus as a patch lube.  Worked real good, seemed to have less fouling than Crisco but I got a few fliers for some reason.

Bison Horn

Pre cut /pre lubed, I can get a variety of thicknesses that are supposedly accurate for working up a load.

Watauga

Mostly Pre cut & pre lubed. They fit in the Patch box just right.
If you use the patch Box for patches.
