Buddy just gave me an old Bear Grizzly 45# bow. He had to get it out of the house. It needs a new string, arrow rest, and some arrows. Bow appears to be in great shape with no stress cracks or de-laminations visible and it's not warped.  dntn

Ya gotta love good deals like that..  dntn

Only thing better than a good bow is a good free bow!

Have a new string, bear hair rest. I probably have some old aluminum arrows kicking around here someplace that will shoot in it. Need to repair archery backstop in yard.

Yep. Aluminum. Have a boatload of them from my compound shooting daze... should be able to find something that has the right spine. If the bow shoots, then I'll get some cedar shafts and put some arrows together.

What size shafts do you have? Unless you have a long draw length anything greater than a 2016 could prove too stiff for that little 45 pounder. You could leave shafts longer and use heavier tips { 160-190 +"} to loosen up the spine. Be sure you use feathers rather than plastic vanes if you shoot off the shelf. Vanes will give erratic arrow flight unless you use an elevated rest.
