There are many differnt ways to make a fry bread, but fry bread makes any meal a feast, so here is our way.
2 cups flour
3 tea spoons baking powder
1 tea spoon salt
1 cup milk

Mix this all in a bowl until there are no lumps. Heat a pan of oil until its hot, flick a few drops of water at the pan to see if it jumps around. Now make your fry bread balls a little larger than a golf ball, as you may have a large gathering to feed, and it goes fast. Put this ball of dough on a floured bread board and flour your hands so you can flatten the dough out and make it round, about a 1/2 inch thick and make a small hole in the center of the flat. Then place it in the hot oil and cook it till its golden brown color. Have your oven ready on warm so you can place a pan lined with a news paper and stack the fry breads in there untill they are all done. You can serve this with any meal but it goes really good with

1 pound of ground venison, or gator, or pork
1 large can of hominy
1 26 oz can of ranch style beans
some salt, pepper, cayanne pepper
some chopped onions
you can boil and chop some cat tails and add as well.

brown the meat in a pan large enough to hold everything else. once the meat is done you can add the seasonings to your taste. then add the ranch beans and hominy. cook this on medium for about an hour or so. Put this in a bowl and serve it with fry bread. toss some cheese on top.

Made something similar in Boy Scouts, except powdered milk was used.  2 handfuls flour, 1 powdered milk, baking soda, salt, mix into dough and fry.

Hadn't thought about that experience in many moons, as I remember it turned out to be a great meal.

You can use powderd milk, easy to carry when out in the glades or woods. Hope it brought back a good memory.

Fry bread is a health and bio hazard....... I am an official clean up and removal specialist  so just send it all my way and i will see to it that it  is dealt with as needed.  which would be  covered in buffalo or venison chilli topped with shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream,  tomatoes ,lettuce and of course you gotta have some fire pickles on there.  or you could just cover it in butter and honey.  at any rate it is a very addictive substance and should only be  dealt with by specialist like myself ....
Just want everyone to be safe ya know !!   ;D
