Heather: Your now gettin to mine and your area, Indian territory, full of us ner do wells and Irish renegades. Actually there really isn't to much known about this region as far as the people are concerned from the 1800's to the 1860's as far as I can tell. Lots of conjecture but not much written history the best I can tell. Most of us have to go by family and oral history. It would be really nice if some long hidden scroll could be found but I'm doubting that, we're a little different here than the east coast I'm afraid.

Well, there is an archaeological site just south of me that there has been proven trade, likely year round, between the Wichita and the French between 1700 and 1753.  They shipped their goods to Arkansas Post.  Also, there is a man in a community near here whose grandmother was married to Chauteau.   The history of our area is becoming more known as we investigate more.  Do you have anything from our areas history that everyone might like to know?  I will, in the furure, venture to cover various areas and time periods so that everyone gets to have some of their history told.  I am glad that you enjoyed it! :)
