I think I just put a cold blue on it and wet it down with bleach and let it rust.  I painted the bottom 3 flats and plugged the touch hole and the muzzle..  I have a very fine wire wheel that I use on low rpm's to remove the rust and to leave the pitting.  After all it was said and done I think I put a bit more cold blue on it and worked it off from the high spots...  I also rounded up the corners a bit to make it look a bit more worn (that was before I started the pitting).

This one is cool too.. just used LMF browning and lett it set out in the shed for a few months..
