Pitchy heres a pic of a simple scrap treadle hammer that could be made simpler.

Pitchy

Cool, that would work good  but a lot of building. I`m going to do some searching for some ideas too.  thmbsup

FrankG

I think it could be simplified some .

Pitchy

Yepper, it looks like a good one. Have ya ever seen the one that looks just like a sledge hammer that goes up and falls. it might not do heavy work though.

FrankG

Ya , I thought I had a pic in a folder but cant find it. This one looks like it could be motorized pretty easy too .

Thumper

Pitchy, FrankG, the sledgehammer type is called a "helve hammer". I'm not sure of the spelkling but Google shoud be able to find it. Guess I missed the first part of this thread, but if you want to make a JYH, go to anvilfire.com, they've got lot's of info. I could post a pic of the one I made (165bpm and 35lb ram), if that would help.

Pitchy

Would like to see it and thanks for the name of the other.  thmbsup

Pitchy

look at the animated hammer, that`s how simple i`m talking about.

FrankG

The helve hammer looks pretty easy and could be geared down with pullys and belts to run slow .

Pitchy

Maybe we gave Tom some thoughts, i`m not building one now got to many other projects going.

FrankG

I hear ya ! I forgot about this one that I put in my pics .

Pitchy

I found that one in a search, would be neat to find some old equipment like that.  thmbsup

FrankG

I saved the pic , because it is so simple I coud make it from my scrap pile .

Thumper

Here's my JYH, a "Spare Tire Hammer". All that's missing out of the pic is the base.

Hopefully  I've mastered the art of inserting pictures. Talk about
"Junk YardHammer's", it's got, auto parts, horse fencing, antenna conduit, dog collar, railroad track, bird shot and a jacuzzi motor in it

Pitchy

Say now that`s darn nice, ya done a nice job and I bet it works good and saves a lot of work.  thmbsup
