My buddy has one of those 3" mod 29's. Calls it his bear gun. You gotta have a firm grip when you pull the trigger on that one.  ROFL

Sorry Ned...Muzzleloading forum.

I'd like to see how you did the .36, Bullfrog. I am thinkin more and more about gettin a wheel gun... slap

Never made one but have gotten several requests for one.  I work again to night so will try to get it in the morning, but will get it out to post over the next day or two.

Adam, that 44 was a sweet shooter but weight was about like a walker dragoon and my hand went numb after just six rounds.  And when it went off, you could see the leaves move on the ground in front of you.  And you better wear your ear plugs.

I love my 29 4" , a genuine point and click device  ;D Recoil was a lot less than expected although I wouldnt want to try it with hot H110 loads !

That post about making one refered to the pic of the .36 snubbie in reguards to mike56's question.  Will show up over the next couplle days.

The short barrel really makes a change in the feel and balance too.  The major down side is putting the loading lever back on to load.  However  a loading mechanism that is commercially made would dispence with that inconvenience  But then you would have to take the cylinder out to load.  Might be easier to just put the loading lever back on to load.

Bull Frog that is a sweet stubby i have been wanting to see what a 51 loos like cut down. What kind of front sight is that and how tall is it. I have a few front aperture sights i wonder if they would work? I have that setup on a old Mauser and it is clear and quick i wonder if it would work on a handgun.

Mike, that front sight came off an old 1896 Swedish Mauser I cut down.  works good enough.  Still abit high.  Needs to come down a bit.  the original sight shot so high I couldn't hit a 1 lb. coffee can at 10 yards.  Was about 6" high at 25 yards, and pretty close at 50 yards.  This sight changed everything.  Depending on how your revolver shoots, you may not need a sight this high.  I originally thought of a lower brass sight.

I forgot to add, it is a 3" barrel.  All most cut it to 2.5" but thought it might look better at 3".  Not so sure now?

I think three inches looks good.
