great what style do you own?

The matchlock is English and would have been the weapon the pilgirms brought to Jamestown

Well that does it, I got to get one now.  Been thinking about it for a couple of years now.  Have even been looking them over at Renaissance fairs, etc.  I think its a can do project.

Matchlocks  I own four Matchlocks Two are large European Muskets 75 cal  with 42 inch barrels one was made by John Buck the other was an import from Middlesex trading co and it is truly fantastic replica that shoots . very accurate to 100 plus yards + with ball  and very effective with shot .I also own a Japanese Match lock an old Dixie gun works Import. These are very strange muskets once you figure them out they are also very accurate. Last is Match lock Arquebus of 15 century European replica Manufactured in the USA  54 cal with 25 inch barrel  .A very authentic replica of a Swiss Arquebus of the late 14 hundreds it works well but has very limited range about 50 yards. I hunt very heavily in my area I have lots of woods and small mountains Lots of Bunny's squirrels and birds. I am to  old to chase deer any more But I have Taken em with matchlock years ago I have been shooting and Hunting 40 years 35 of them with matchlocks.

I too just got a matchlock and it is a riot to shoot! Very different to shoot and need a little more concentration, but well worth the effort.
