Jean,
Looks like quite a place to do a little trekking.  Got a few questions though:

1.  Is it hard to find BP in your area?  Need a license or anything?
2.  If one is camping out for a night or two is it possible to have a small cook fire?  Would a small stove and a mucket work better?  To make coffee/tea; or does everyone just drink whiskey?
3.  Any problems carrying your rifle on any trails there? State regulations etc.
4.  Have you ever come across other people or hikers while you were wearing your period clothes?
5.  How easy is it to find water if you need it?
6.  How cold does it get at night in the mountains?

Any info you would share would be appreciated.

  Jean,
If I ever get the chance to get out your way, I will look ya up.  It does look nice, but them trees seem a might on the sparse side of things. Guess I am used to how thick they are up here. We got the BWCAW in my area and while I do live in town, I can be in the woods within 5-10 minutes and the BWCAW in half an hour and it is some great territory to go into for camping and trekking. Its a non motorized area and does require a permit, but ya can be out there for weeks and not see another person if ya want ta get away from it all. Its over 1,000,000 acres of heaven and has some of the most beautiful scenery ya can find.

1. real bp is hard to get in california
2. depends on time of year for the fires, i just go ahead, im friends with all the rangers and LEO's
3. its 100% legal to carry your weapons in the national forest, no permit required
4. heck yes i have! usually we sit and talk about what im doing and the history of the area
5. water is a bit scarce but there are springs
6. depends on time of year

my turn, are you planing on a trip here?

Don

I sure would love to Jean.  I have an Ohio winter coming in now though so I will probably be a slave to my outdoor woodburner for the next few months.  I would like to trek your neck of the mountain for a day or two but all of my clothing is colonial and a tad Eastern Woodland.  I do have a copote and cochise boots, probably a couple of shirts that will work.  Let me think about it.....
