We've talked about lubes but what about patch material?  What do you prefer for patches?
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

Good old striped pillow ticking is my heavy patch material and if I can find it the flowered thin pillow ticking. Pocket drill also works nicely.

Almost forgot, too focused on insulating brother hotfxr.   fght

For 5 of my rifles I use heavy, unbleached canvas (.024"); It loads easier than denim.  Three others like either the striped mattress ticking (.017" + or -) or .012" flannel for the smoothbore.  Actually one prefers the thinner striped "pillow ticking" (.014" + or -).  Sometimes I've used the "canvas cotton duck" (.018" + or -) with very good results.  Since two barrels have .016" deep radius grooves, they almost require the heavy canvas.  hntr

Actually I have been using the "Daisy" patches Dogshirt talked about awhile back. I have only been shooting the Hatfield and use the thicker ones which seem to work the best.

I like these a lot. And they will just stick them in an envelope in the mail, so shipping is very reasonable.
Here is a link for those that haven't heard of them.
