I'm looking for something in the $250 range at most for cash only or higher priced if willing to take $250 and an 1851 Navy in trade. Project, unfinished kit or complete firing rifle. Let me know what you have.

If I may, I'd like to add some advice to your request. First, it would help generate interest in your trade if you described the item for trade a little more; who made it, what year was it made, condition, etc. That way you can get a fair amount for your trade.
Also, as with most things you get what you pay for and $250 with or without the trade is not much to work with.  A muzzle loader that has a rusty/pitted bore, poor quality lock, soft frizzen, etc. is quickly going to become a boat anchor instead of a hobby.  However, those deals exist and are out there but you're really going to have to look hard.  If possible you might find someone that would let you buy on a payment plan, which again are few and far between but are out there.  You also didn't mention a preference for what type, era, maker or caliber of rifle you want, other than flintlock.  It would help narrow things down if you had a purpose in mind for the rifle.  Target shooting only?  Shooting and hunting?  Re-enacting?  Squirrel hunting?  Deer and target?
You should also check out the various auction/sales websites like Gunbroker, GunsAmerica as well as the classified sections of other muzzleloader forums.  Classic Long Rifles,  American Long Rifle, Traditional Muzzleloading Forum are all good places to shop for a rifle.
Please feel free to ask whatever questions you may have and I'm sure someone here will have an answer. Good luck!

All very good points. It also wouldn't hurt to post a picture of what I'm offering up. I appreciate the advice and will be adding to my post. Thank you.

This may interest you as this offer is a steal for everything you get; basically just add powder and patching material.  It's a .32, made of cherry wood and was offered by Dixie gun works.  It's being sold by Jackie Brown, a noted builder who probably took this one in on trade but it includes a nice bag and other accoutrements with the rifle and for $800 it's a steal.

I have a full stock flint for sale, a custom build. Cherry full stock with incised carving and a sliding wooden patch box. 42" swamped .50 caliber barrel and Siler large flint lock. All brass hardware. UNFIRED. Asking $800 plus shipping, unless you are close enough for a face to face. Can send pictures if you are interested. Not looking for trades.

Did you find a Flintlock? or are you still looking?

Used ones in fine condition can often be found in the classified section of some forums.  Or, you could give hotfxr a couple of bucks for his; he can't shoot well enough to justify one and he doesn't like flinters, anyway.  strpot
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

You are going on the naughty list for sure now. Although I cannot argue with your first point, I take umbrage with the second one. And don't forget how good I look holding onto one!  dntn
I am the one your mom warned you about!

I know this is an old thread. But Papa do you still have the rifle in which you described?
