A big move from Va to Me has also kept me from any shooting for months, CC.  I did join a rod & gun club and have my "old codger's lifetime hunting/fishing license".  Next season I should be ready to shoot and hunt both.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

Blackfeet

Goex exclusively. Trashed a barrel using Pyrodex (I maintain my innocence in all respects) and never went back to it.

Rocklock

Goex and now some Schutzen that I win at matches.

My right eye is now so bad I'll never be able to shoot close to what I once was capable of.  But I can still see well enough to hunt and shoot for fun.  Graf's seems to have powder at a comparatively reasonable cost.  For years I've used mostly Goex products but price is now my main concern.

I have been using Goex exclusively ............. smells so good.  Cataracts are definitely interfering with my ability to see sights very well.  As a result, I am switching to some type of optical sights for my modern guns.  Iron sight shooting just ain't what it used to be for me.  Possibly a peep sight might make it better.

if you want to keep it primitive there are options !  the brass one is available from muzzleloaders supply ! you could probably manufacture the first two !

Thanks, I would definitely want to keep a primitive approach. I will have to see if I can cobble up a prototype to see if it might work for me.

I have been BP shooting since '79 and only used Goex up until Graf came out with their relabeled Schuetzen powder. Since then I have used more Graf's than Goex along with some Old Eynesford.
I like the Old Eynesford best because of the increase in power but use Graf's more because of the price. It just takes a bit more to equal the oomph of Old Eynesford. I would rate Goex and Graf's about the same for the 2F and 3F since that's all I've tried. Graf's may be a bit cleaner burning but not enough to matter.

I have never shot Swiss so I can't make any comments about it.

I would bet that OE would be a GREAT powder in c&b revolvers.  Graf's will likely be the next powder I'll buy because of price.  It's very difficult to get up $$ for anything now.
