What was the one gun you always wanted when you were younger?
Muzzle loader or early cartridge only, not a cannon or bridge defence type.

Do you own one now?

For me it was the Sharps. No I don't have one.

there were three , sharps , trapdoor , and tennessee mountain rifle ! Ive owned all three ,  but at this time , the only one I have of the three is a trapdoor !

I was a kid much too long ago to remember what I wanted.  But I can say that for a long time I've wanted either a .54 German jaeger with some modest carving & engraving; or a .54 early longrifle with the same modest engraving and carving.  But now, I'd be delighted with a Kibler SMR in .45.  I've grown to love those iron mounted beauties.

My Uncle Junior had a Winchester Model 94 Golden spike commemorative .30-30 rifle,.. I loved to go shooting with my Cousins and Uncle Junior and getting to use that 30-30...  thmbsup   I still look for one off and on,...but they are pretty pricey and somewhat rare.....If the Model 94 is to New a Gun to post feel free to remove this post....

Hanshi,
I might be able to help you out. I'm selling a .50 flint longrifle for a friend that is in hospice care. Real nice cherry stock with a wooden patch box and incised carving. Not sure if it's even been fired. I was asking $1,000 for it but will take $800 plus shipping. Unknown builder and unknown barrel but appears to be a large Siler lock, a quality build. Can send pictures if there's an interest.

Papa, I have lots of "wants" but no cash reserves.  Sounds like a great deal but I'll have to pass.   :'(

Just trying to help. A few dead presidents are better company than a flint rifle for this fellow.

I know that said all my dream guns where all ready in the  in  the gun room, but last night, I got to thinking there are some that I don't  have. I would like to have a  couple of wheel locks,  hand a gun and a rifle,
I would also like to have a Brown Bess.

What I bought instead of the Sharps Was a reproduction of the Remington Rolling Block in .40/65. Pedersoli makes nice guns but this one was bought used and it looked clean BUT when I tried to shoot it the bullets were tipping at 25 yards and 3 out of 5 were sideways at 50 yds. As a last resort I bought some PMC factory loads (No longer available.) and got it on paper at 100 yds, then went to a Cowboy Action annual match and was lucky enough to take 3rd place in a 3 way shoot off for 3rd at 550 yds. I later scrubbed the bore thoroughly with JB Compound and got it to shoot fairly well at 100 yds but it only has long range vernier sights with no other rear sight and it is too heavy to carry hunting.

It mostly sits in the safe because I only have access to a 100 yd range and it still needs more work to shoot at 500+yards.

Red Badger

Dreams were a Kentucky rifle like Daniel Boone carried.... came true in an early Lancaster named "Patience"
A sharps in .54 cal - came true a while back and shoots like a dream, but sold it to a friend who needed it for his collection of SAS pieces.

I still have my Quiggly sharp's in 45-70
