I picked up a small set of Harbor Freight screwdrivers as a feebie for buying something else a while back.  I have used them some just to try them and they seem to be fine.  They are actually ground so they don't slip out of the screw head and the best thing for me -  they are narrow enough to fit Spanish screw slots.  I have the  two smallest drivers in my range box because they fit the screws on the lock and tang on CVA and Traditions guns.  I don't know about quality control, the next set might not be any good but free was Ok.

Free is always good. We are "on the Cheap" y'know.   thmbsup

Although it is Harbor Freight, even tool junkies like myself help keep them in business.
I am the one your mom warned you about!

I made a trip to a Harbor Freight when one opened 50 miles away. I wanted to get a 'Hitch-Haul' on sale. After inspecting one and looking at the lack of quality in some other items, I left empty-handed.
I later bought an aluminum Hitch-Haul from Northern Tool on sale. It's the bomb.

I believe that every item at Harbor Freight is made in China. They should rename the chain "Chinese Freight." At least WalMart has some items that are made in America.

You definitely have to be careful there.  You will note that serious wood and metal workers or mechanics won't be found in the store.  Some of their stuff is Indian rather than Chinese but still imported for sure.  Kind of like Kmart - inspect carefully before the purchase.

I've bought a fair amount of stuff from HF over the years.  I think the most costly item I got was only $50 and it gave excellent service for what it was.  Everything else was cheap and worked just as I'd hoped.  I do agree that it's best to closely examine before you buy.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.
