Right now I use pre-cut, pre-lubed

R.M.

I buy ticking from Wally-World, pre-cut them square, and lube them with my own concoction of lube.

FrankG

I use the Oxyoke precut mostly and pre grease the patches and store in a cap tin until needed . I use my homespun zip lube made from deer tallow.

TomG

I buy pillow ticking by the yards, cut in strips and roll up and stick in my bag.
Use them for cleaning also.
Keep a 8" long strip tied to the outside of my bag and use it to wipe the frizzen, pan and flint off in between shots.
Been using wonder lube but may switch to crisco soon.

Dryball

Tom,

So you cut and grease at the muzzle?

Right now I'm using pillow ticking cut into strips and cut off at the muzzel.Put it in my mouth for a min. before I put it into the rifle.Just because this is the way I was taught.

TomG

Sometimes I cut and grease at the muzzle.
Or I will cut some ticking and put it in my lube tin.
Or Ill cut and spit the patch

Thats exactly what I do as well.  ;D

In a pinch though I will spit and cut at the muzzle.

I buy ungreased .018 or .015 pillow ticking patches and lube them with either moose juice or moose snot.

For target shooting i use cutup flannel sheets and use spit for lube. For hunting i use pillow tacking from Walmart. For lube i use 1 part Crisco, 1 part paraffin wax, and 1/2 part bees wax by weight melted together. I put a few tablespoons of lube in a small can and melt it then stir in a 100 patches with a stick. My patches are very much like store bought patches. Pre soaking patches in Hopes #9 plus also works good for me for target work.
