Finally got around to posting my first three shots ever with a flint lock.  Had not figured out what the rifle liked at this point.  Had two misfires out of three rounds.  Now she is near 100% reliable.

This group was fired offhand (standing un-supported) at 50 yards.  I think I'm going to like flintlocks. :)

Most excellent shooting. It has been said before that shooting flintlocks will make you a better shooter overall.
I am the one your mom warned you about!

When you are a good as I am, there is very little room for improvement.

from what I see,  appear the target was shot at at least 5 times  strpot   and the group of three was left un-tampered with   hdslp

     But still, NICE SHOOTING.

You are right the target has more than three holes in it, but I'm cheap, I don't shoot one group and throw the target away.  Believe me or not I really don't care, but that three shot group was not only shot offhand, but was the first time I've ever shot a flintlock.  BTW, I'm still using that same target, it now has well over 100 holes in it.

I patch and reuse targets all the time, myself.  I've also picked up slightly used and sometimes brand new targets out of the range trash.  I haven't bought a target in decades.  See?  There's cautious, then there's frugal and then there's CHEAP.  I'm in that last group.

And, believe it or not, I NEVER miss; I do often shoot at alternative targets, however.  wtt

If more people practiced patch and release, there would always be enough targets around so everyone could enjoy the sport.  ;D

yep ! there`s cautious , then there`s frugal  and then there`s cheap , but I`ve gone beyond that , I`ve reached the very pinnacle , I`m miserly !  :mini-devil-28492: I make my targets out of what`s available , cereal boxes are good , two targets per box !  thmbsup ROFL ROFL

I'm still using a supply of targets from the 60s.  If I ever run out (not likely) maybe I'll have to start eating cereal.  Hope I never run out of targets.
