Well I ordered one from deer creek and it was too big.Someone then said that the rammer end has a smaller hole and that would be the same size. So off to the Hardeware store, picked uo a couple screws ,one long one to make a t handle for stuck rods and one for the bolster.NOPE still too big I guess Ill have to remove the barrel and take it in

I replaced a couple of those with metric screws that took a hex key. I don't recall the size, 4 or 5 MM I think. But the shortest I could get was too long, it interfered with the nipple. I had to buy nuts for them, put them on the threads to help chase them after grinding them to length. Just my experience.

I was in the dollar store and bought a bag of assorted screws and other hardware and found one in there

Just be carefull.  There are SAE screws that look and feel almost exactly like the originals but are held by a smaller contact area on the threads and are prone to shooting out the side after being removed and replaced a few time. Was shooting with a gal when hers shot out.. her uncle had replaced it with wrong threaded screw....

I do a lot of seemingly insane things but I would never use a screw from the dollar store  ( or harbor freight or any box store for that matter) on anything where safety is a concern. At the very least head over to an Ace or True Value store and pick up a machine screw that is not zinc or brass.
I am the one your mom warned you about!
