While searching for felt at Joann's Sewing shop (well, what else would I be looking for at a sewing shop? ;D), I spotted an unfinished wooden sewing box. It set off bells in my mind and I thought of all the possible uses I could make of it. But, the bottom was beyond flimsy. I probably could punch a hole through it with my finger. The hinges were suspect. But, the box could serve as a foundation for a shooting box with improvements.
Here is the unfinished box after I had added three 1 x 1 strips to reinforce the bottom. Also, I have started to add external and internal angle braces for strength:

Rusty, the cat, did not come with the box. He was extra.

Then, the reinforcement and finishing began. You can see the additional hinges on back:

And the angle brackets can be seen in the top of the box. Similar ones are in the bottom section as well.

The side now has handles and support brackets:

The front includes some latches for keeping the box closed:

It needed a shelf and some partitions on the bottom. So, I took apart an old, wooden 5 x 8 card file box using the bottom for a partition and the top for a shelf. The shelf required some ledges.

Ole Rusty has been promoted to Guard Cat to protect all the muzzleloader gear:

Half of the materials I use for the myriad of projects I start come from thrift stores. They can be a treasure trove if you look at things with a re-purposing eye. Good job on the box.
I am the one your mom warned you about!

I`ve done two of them ! the first was made from a wooden cookie box  ROFL yep ! I `m really that cheap ! here it is . the only thing here that cost more than $1.50 was the tin of caps , the oil bottle was found digging a trench , the pistol was a freebie when I bought a tc hawken from a guy and everything else is my own work ! gave it to a friend as a christmas gift couple years back !
