Nice looking rifle there, you do good work. What makes it an "English Sporting Rifle"?
I am the one your mom warned you about!

A very nice rifle that I'd rather keep.  Just saying. dntn
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

The whole style of it hotfxr,  They just about defined well made hunting rifles in middle of the 19th century.  They look very much like a modern rifle some even had pistol grip stocks.   Google English sporting guns----nice stuff.   .....Tom

very nice rifle ! had an original many years back! thyey did some great work , mine had just a bit of engraving , a checkered grip , and a beautiful european walnut stock . mounted in iron and silver . what I liked the most was the sights , it had a three leaf folding rear sight and a gold bead front sight ! and for being around 130 years old at the time was one heck of a shooter !  it was percusion and .45 cal .  like your take on the type , looks great ! guy should be very happy with it !
