Woody,
I like a light gun for both carrying and shooting but 5.5#, that thing is liable to kick the snot out of you with even a "fairly" stout load. My little half stock fowler comes in at about 6.5# with a 34" barrel. You must have a really light stock.
Mark

Yes Sir, very light stock and one of Ken's light barrels. Stock wood is softer than anything I've used before. If nothing else it will make a dandy re-enactment gun to carry and with light loads (60/65 grs.) I think it will make a nifty squirrel gun.

dont think it`ll be all that bad a kicker . my very first muzzle loading long gun was a belgian made single barrel .28 gauge shotgun  with a light weight 27 inch barrel , stock weighed just a little over nothing ! whole gun was right around 3.5 pounds . used shot and round ball in it ! preferred  round ball . accurate for a smoothbore ! usual load was right around 60 -65 grains of 3 f and a patched ball ! could`nt get the size i needed around my area so i was using a .495 with a thick patch made from old blue jeans ! not a bad litt
le gun for $ 35.00   !

looking forward too seeing the  finished product !

Went down to see Mr. Netting and had him do the engraving today, I still have a lot to learn before I try my hand at engraving. Anyway, everything is made, installed, and it's a functioning gun at this point. Now it's all finishing work.

Woody that's one NICE looking trade gun you have there. I really like the hand cut brass furniture you did. Might talk you into sending me a copy pattern of that butt plate to use sometime  ;D Can't wait to see her finished!!

Very nice. However, I think we need to have your DNA examined. Anyone who can consistently produce this many fine firearms (and I have not forgotten the accouterments you make in your spare time) cannot be human. Are you from a planet that starts with a "K"?
By the way, I also love the brass, fine job. thmbsup
I am the one your mom warned you about!

woody

Thanks guys...just one of the few perks of be retired...lots of time to do what I like. Greg I'll dig it out and mail you the pattern. Hotfxr sorry not from K.....but I have a great teacher Mr. K  and he may be !  ;D

Got a break in the weather so I got some sanding and staining done today. She's getting closer.
