Not too pretty to shoot, more like it will shoot pretty darn nice. And all Mikes creations make the shooters (us) look pretty talented to boot. Nice looking rifle, congratulations.
I am the one your mom warned you about!

Well, you gonna pull them pistols or whistle Dixie?

I forgot to mention the original agreement with Mike was for the stock to be plain some curl,I know enough about hardwood to know that until you start working it you never really know what you are going to get but I still wonder if this is plain what's Mike's definition of fancy?

Another fine rifle by Mike, shoot it in good health and pass it down to the next generation. Mike used a similar more red than brown stain on a cherry stocked trade rifle he built for me using parts from my Lyman rifle 3 years ago. She will shoots good as she looks.

Old thread but just now reading it.  Sooooo...

That is a gorgeous stock and a nice rifle.  Mike does know his trade.  I have mine  prty :applause:  and love it.  I do wish he still did this full time.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

I also wish I still did this full-time. I won't re-hash the dealings with the IRS, State Of Indiana, and just a few (but too many) unreasonable customers, that forced me to return to full-time gainful employment with someone else handling the taxes and PR, but will emphatically state that there will probably be no return to taking orders for builds on even a part-time basis. Ever.

That said, Punjab's rifle was one of the kind I most enjoy doing, whether it's re-stocking and in the process really improving the looks and performance of a customer's existing gun, or starting with a chunk of wood and pile of new parts to create something that's bare-bones plain (okay, sometimes the wood is a little more than that) and no-frills simple, but pleasing to look at and wickedly effective in use. IF I were to return to any form of building to order, I'd stick to three basic types of rifle only (early and late Lancaster fullstocks, and a Leman/Henry/Bown-style halfstock) with few if any upgrades or options, and I would refuse to even discuss anything outside that parameter. No fowlers, no swamped barrels, no carving, nothing but what I most enjoy building and can build fairly quickly and easily with one hand tied behind my back, while I'm sleeping.

Even that is, unfortunately, highly unlikely to come to pass.

We are just glad you can find the time to stop by here for a visit every now and then!

I agree and I am happy I have the priviledge of owning a Mike Lange product. I am one of those who hopes he might one day get back to doing custom work for past customers who HAVE NOT given him a hard time.
