My new/old quilt. A while back I picked up this no name wool Hudson bay type blanket at the thrift store.....I think I might have paid $5 tops. Anyway, it had some holes in, but I wanted to still be able to use it as it is really heavy and thick. So I had the idea to make it into a quilt. first patched the holes with pillow ticking, using stars cause I like the look,.

With the help of my mother, whom is a quilting fool this is what we came up with.

Then lined the other side with pillow ticking as well, and in bewteen is a thiner wool blanket and some quilt batting. Tied together with red string. Also the pillow ticking is just like a light weight canvas and really helps to stop the wind that can blow right thru wool.

I am more then happy with how it turned out! And can't wait to pair it with my buffalo hide next weekend for an outing in the cold. Should work great.

Next up will some blanket straps to haul it around.

Looks to be really warm, how heavy is it?

I would be worried about getting too warm and breaking out in a sweat.
