While I was spraying my canvas with boiled linseed oil I decided to run an experiment. I sprayed almost a gallon of 50/50 linseed oil/mineral spirits on a 12 x 15 cloth. The way i twas sprayed showed stripes so I folded it up tight to let the solution soak in evenly. I have an infared thermometer and the cloth temp was 82 degrees in the sun. I checked it every hour or so and didn't really see much warming, Then after about 5 hours I checked and the interior temp had shot up to 119 degrees so I unfolded it and stretched it out over a rope to dry in the open. I didn't really believe it would do it but now I Believe

So watch the oily rags

No seriously, I was a bit curious as well, but know I believe.  Gotta be careful with that stuff!
