When they were digging up Market st. in San Francisco for the tunnel that goes under the bay and over to Oakland, they dug up a ship that had been sunk in place about 1840 and on it was found a leather covered glass canteen. I liked the looks of it so made one for myself. Since then I've made several more for friends. Thanks for looking. Hank

Very nice indeed. What kind of bottle did you use??

texasranger

right pretty, wouldn't mind having one myself.

did a nice job on that ! been using one for the last twenty years that I made .  think stitching the leather while it was wet was one of the roughest jobs of that type I`ve done !  fingers were sore for a week ! they are pc ! and once you figure out how to go about it , not to hard a job ! how much does yours hold , mines about a quart !

Thanks, guys for your comments. I though I posted this about a week ago but I don't see it.
Otter, this one is a heart shaped wine bottle, holds a 1/5 of liquid but sometime I've used flat whiskey bottles. Rondys always have a lot of old bottles for sale. I have a perfectly round and flat bottle with a cork stopper that should make a nice one when I get around to it. Hank
