Just made another flat one for my .45 bag, definately not as nice as the one on my .50 bag but it is flat and sure feels better than the Buffalo horn that I've had on that bag which was Fat instead of Flat. .45 rifle and .50 smoothie are my 2  favorites. Holds 2600 grs. enough for 43 shots.  Hank

Hank,
It may not be as pretty as your .50 caliber horn but I'd say it's pretty nice!!

Thanks, it was a kinda ugly horn to begin with so, at least, I got some of the ugly off but for a "using" horn I think it'll be great. I haven't used it yet but I wore it around the shop for awhile and it felt good so maybe tomorrow I'll give it a try. Hank

Don't see any Ugly, you apparently worked the ugly into very nice

Thanks, I really appreciate the comments.  I guess it did turn out better than expected especially since I whipped it out so quickly. I got it flattened on Friday, just about finished it on Saturday, made the plug and the straps for the bag on Sunday. Should have made a before picture. Hank

great looking horn, be proud to wear and use it.

It's been storming all week so I didn't get out to shoot until this morning. I always shoot offhand from the bag so wanted to see how it hung and if the straps were the right length for pouring the powder into the measure and the measure strap the right length for pouring the powder down the barrel. Everything seemed to be just right, comfortable and easy to use so I'm happy with it. Thanks for all your comments. Think I'll make a couple more of these flat horns.  Hank

Great lookin horn!  Be proud to wear it. I know it would look great with my 45 flinter. thmbsup

Hank,
I plan to start using a flat horn instead of the usual round one but am not going to hang it. I have a double bag and am going to carry it in the front pouch. The other option is to get a bag with a gusseted front pocket, under the flap, and carry it there. Don't need lot of powder typically and there is less to hang up in the brush.

Papa, if your going to carry a horn in a bag or pouch the flat one is definately the one to have but it's so handy to have the horn right on top of the bag and being flat makes it fit there so well, at least for me.
Course we don't have much brush here to get hung up on. I think back in the day folks wore them higher up under the arm than we do now to keep them from hanging up on stuff. When you get it done post it so we can see it.  Hank

Really like the color! __ I haven't seen a "Flatty", that I didn't like! ___ That's probably the reason I make so dang many of 'um!

Thanks, Horner, you make some beautiful horns, flat and round. I thought the color really turned out well but your the first one who mentioned it. I love the flat horns, I'm working on another one now, a small flat horn for a very small pouch. It's almost solid black so it won't be much to look at but should work well.

I am also a flat horn lover, but have terrible luck keeping them from cracking while trying to flatten them.  Have ruined some nice horns.  Love the color by the way!
