Do any of you out there know of an artillery group in the Eastern Kansas/Western Missouri area?? I've finally given up on owning my dream cannon at any time in the near future, meaning this lifetime. SO the next best would be to find a group that might take on a graying recruit.
Thanks all.

Nope, but if you was to expand to Oklahoma I might be able to help!

Try talking to some on the National Parks, they should be able to put you in touch with reenactor groups. In the past I have worked with two separate gun crews here in SW Missouri, Unfortunately both gun owners passed away some time ago and the guns sold off. I know that there are several groups that work with Wilson's Creek nat'l battlefield in Springfield MO, and the park does artillery training with some of its docents.

Chris,
That's a great idea. I'll definitely contact the Natl. Park service. Just for drill will also check with both Ks and Mo parks too.

Finally found the Kansas 3rd Light Artillery!  And have been contacted by them. Let the fun begin!  srndr

Ummm, I'm just moving up a few calibers from my .45-100 RB. Gotta keep with the Joneses.

Otter have a blast!
There is nothing like the boom of a cannon, or when your gun spouts a smoke ring that sails out over the battle field. One thing to remember, even though it is not PC WEAR HEARING PROTECTION! I didn't and am now completely deaf in one ear and only mostly deaf in the other. So now I am a hearing protection nazi when it comes to any kind of shooting.

It is hard to go back to your old guns once you get used to measuring loads in ounces instead of grains.
