Bird & trout knife made from half an old file (the other half became a striker). Designed to hook over your little finger while using both hands to clean your fish or fowl, so it does not drop into the water while you work.



Damascus custom neck knife made from a scrap piece of Craig Barr's excellent damascus steel. "5160 and 15n20 damascus."
I bought about 50 lbs of this stuff & I expect to get 100 blades or so. My cost is about $.50 per blade before the work & propane for the forge...
Its about a 2 1/2" blade...

Can you use the Bird & trout knife to strike a Spark or did you temper it Different than a striker?

I had not tried it & it is on its way to its new owner. The cutting edge was tempered separately from the body so it would hold an edge but leave the rest not so brittle. Short answer is I coulda...
