Ok yes I'm planning on doing some more studying but from what I thinking on the Back of the Bow you are wanting a Clean Unbroken Grain,Belly do your cutting and taking off.Right?

Also if the Back is on Sap Wood side get all the Sap Wood off.Again Right?

I'm thinking this can be simple just use common sense.Got bunch of Osage Orange on my property.

I think what your calling the BACK of the bow is what I think of as the FROnt of the bow.  Am I wrong, someone clue me in?  Thanks, Hank

The part facing away from the shooter is the Back, the inside is the Belly. At least this is what I was always told?

Correct. The back of the bow is facing away from you. Also correct on removing the sap wood down to a good ring. Keep that ring as pristene as possible.

Got it, but i still think of the part facing away as the front, like the front of my guns (the muzzle) the front of my house, the front of my truck, my own belly is on my front and my back is on the side behind me ,wonder who came up with this nomenclature for bows????????? I think I'll still call the front the front and the back the back, even if it's wrong.  Hank
