Wool blanket

I recently bid on a red wool blanket with black stripes on the Goodwill auction sight and ended up as the high bidder.  I've bought several items off that auction and for the most part have been happy, with one exception when they billed me for priority shipping but actually sent it third class.  It took three weeks to get a refund along with a rather lame explanation as to why it happened but I thought this particular blanket and I stuck with my budget, conceding that if someone wanted it bad enough that they could pay more for it.  I had actually bid on three other blankets but was quickly outbid on all except this one.  It was represented to be 76X56 inches, but what I received today is slightly different.

Width is 5 feet even, so right at 60 inches, while the length is a mere 150 inches, a clear misrepresentation of it's true dimensions.... :o
Yep, that's not a typo, it is over 12 feet long.  I kept thinking that it had to be two blankets in the box and it's not two blankets sewn together either, just one long blanket.  So I guess my bedroll in now complete, or maybe I should have two more capotes made from this one blanket?  hdslp

Another picture of this one.

it is two blankets,it was made to be cut in half.

You don't understand, they advertised this as one wool blanket measuring 56 x 76 but it's actually one red blanket measuring 60 X 150, a pleasant surprise to say the least.  It isn't as thick as the HBC type blankets but for a grand total of $34.29 including shipping I am quite happy with what I got.  If Wilt Chamberlin needs a blanket long enough to be made into a capote for him, this is it!  ;D

I guess I could cut it in half so there are two 60 x 75 blankets but I'm thinking and sewing it into a sack to fit my 6'4" frame into.

He is right, it is two blankets that have not been cut. That is how they are made...

If I owned it, I would fold it in half and sew it into one 60x75 double thick blanket, especially if it is not that thick to start.  I often sew two lighter blankets together to make a thicker bedroll.  I even leave a little spot unsewn so I can put things inside if needed.

Nice find!

I think I may end up doing just that, but sewing another blanket to it because this other one is a coral color and is obviously a modern item even though it is wool.  That way only the red blanket will show but still will be nice and warm.  Of course, if I'm not at a rondy or anywhere else that it might matter I will just pile on however many blankets I need no matter the color, but it's nice to know that my bedroll will look PC.  This whole thing was a pleasant surprise to come hom to after having kidney stone surgery yesterday.

I've owned a few "un-cut" Hudson Bay's. The last one I sold went for 800.00. They are that rare.
