What are these worth ? Brass mounted, shot less than 50 times. Good bore. Has target sights but easily replaced. No box or papers

This is such a subjective item as I am sure the more edumacated on the list will clarify.  I did a quick look and found these:  One on GunsAmerica, listed as unfired, is going for $800.  One on GunAuction, listed as 90% on the stock, was going for $650.  Another on ArmsList is listed as NIB (New in Box) is going for $700.  There are three on Gunbroker.  One, a .50, is for $650 that has been fired 10 times and spent the last 8 years in a gun safe.  One, a .45, is listed as having some pitting in the barrel and is going for $600.  A .54 is going for $660 and seller says he has had it since he was a kid and it has been "well kept".

Obviously these do not mean the seller will get what they are asking, but that is what they want, and we all know about "want".  I guess the bottom line is what is it worth to you given information like this?  I have a hankerin for Austin & Halleck mountain rifles.  I will probably pay more than its worth because I am just in love with the darn looks of the rifle.  It is probably idiots like me  'shok' that drive some of these prices up.  Although that flinter that Mongrel has up right now looks real purty.  ucrzy

Good luck!

I own one. and have seen them go for $1,000 dollars. but of course that depends on condition.

Just my opinion , but if I were in the market for one , I doubt I.d pay more then $600.00. But as was  said its sipply and demand. If the gun really has your attention then I suppose a person would be inclined to go much higher . I don,t know if all were , but many were built by Remington.
The CVA Mtn/ rifles are also going for more money then the average CVA. The early models were built with American barrels here in the states. After the co. was sold they produced a limited run but they were made in Spain with Spainish barrels . Don,t know but I think the double wedges holding the barrel make them look more rugged .

I helped a friend stain his new kitchen cabinets and he gave me his. of course he never used it and did not know how to stain.

they tend to be high dollar items ranking right up there with hatfields and a few others !they were pricey when new ! I bough a hatfield ,( one of the better grades ) back the 80`s for less than the new price on a johnathon browning mountain rifle !
