I picked up a long bow a couple of weeks ago, I'd like to shoot cedar arrows with it, was at my dads yesterday an he had a bunch of arrows that he was getting rid of an there were several cedar arrows in the bunch but all but three are two short for me, I need 30 -31 inches. They all need re fletched but thats no big deal, was wondering if anyone had some long ones that they havent trimmed yet an might be willing to do some trading with me?

Second what kinds of quivers are you guys using, I see some that hang off your belt an some over your shoulder, probably end up making my own but looking for some ideals, pics would be good to. Thanks

I can't help with the arrows, but the choice of quiver style is just that, a choice. With the bow in your holding hand go through the motions of drawing arrows to shoot and think about which way you like best. Unless you are trying to copy a specific tribe or person you just need to find out which is most comfortable.

I make & sell cedar shaft arrows with wood nocks for primitive bow shooters. Obviously plastic nocks are usually not allowed at rondy's. Base price is $75 a dozen, $40 a half dozen + shipping. Right now I have a dozen that are long enough for you, even a bit longer. Splined for 35-40 lbs.

Thanks for the offer Rev but my bow is 50lb an at my 30" draw it's a little over that

If you can't find any elsewhere I will make some for you. Might be a while...

Chances are you are drawing 58-60#@ your 30" draw. The spine of the arrow will most likely need to be 65-70's. There was a time I could have helped you out with cedars. If I do have any arrows that long they would probably be 31 or 32" raminwood with plastic nocks. If you decide to go with a back quiver I may be able to help with that. I also have a hip quiver or two but they more than likely aren't what you would be looking for.

What type of longbow did you get? Selfbow or modern bow?

Mongo40

I got a Bear Montana an a PSE Sequoia for my son, been shooting the bear all weekend, really liking it.
What exactly is a selfbow??? a bow you made yourself???

Yes, a selfbow is made from a single piece of wood called a stave. Either from a split of a tree trunk (preferred) or limb wood. I had a Bear Montana and wish I still had it. It was one of the first 64" produced and was mismarked as 68". It was a 50#er. I reworked the grip as the original grip was to squared off. I think you will find the Montana throws a mean heavy arrow. I shot raminwoods weighing upwards of 800gr and they hit like a freight train!!!!!!!!!
