I would like the opinion of you folks, please.
I have cowboy type saddle bags. They were new when I found them in the middle of the nearest US highway. They are plain unstained heavy leather. Each pouch measures 10" wide X 9" tall. They have a flap with two buckled straps. I've had the around 10 years, now. They have never been used. I no longer have four legged horses, only iron horses.
I would like your opinion on this....I am thinking about cutting a bag away from the unit and attaching a strap and, maybe add pockets inside. Using it for a possibles bag.

Whatche think?

Sounds to me as if you could sell them saddlebags and have more than enough to cover a custom bag or a goodly amount of appropriate leather to make several bags. Just my $.02

I would have to agree with BruceB !! If you can't sell them then recycle them into projects...

They "look" just like these. Mine are not quite as large. Notice the, buy it now, price. For that price.......don't hardly seem worth the effort. Even though I have nothin in them.
Thanks for the opinions.

On the other hand, if you will scroll down to the other auctions, you will see a couple of used ones for considerably more.

I see. I stopped when I found the one that looked like mine. The ones in the picture look like, maybe, they are double layered, to give them thickness. Mine are made out of one thick piece of leather.
Thanks to all for you input.

Free leather, do it! at the moment most horse gear is not selling well do to the economy and folks dumping their ponies, hm feed the kids and keep the lights on or feed the ponies?????????????, it's got so bad out here in the PNW that some folks wake up and find strange horses tied to their barns or in their corrals, the leather you found should make a quite nice pouch, go for it and post some pics when your done, would like to see your creation, just my 2 pence worth

Thumper

Leathermonger, where in the PNW are you? I'm in lower Idaho and the horse problem isn't that big....yet. I hear of people truning them loose in the hills, but so far it's still a rarity. I've had my 2 horses one for 15 and one for 11 years and neither of them are going to starve, need medical or hoof work or be givin away, they're like family. I come from the school of thought that once you take responsibility for a (good), pet's life, it's your's till one of you die.

Leathermonger

Thumper, I'm in Wash on the wet side, pukit sound area, dam yuppies are the ones dumping ponies, me and the wife, we're horse poor, can't believe the price of alfalfa these days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thumper

Leathermonger, you might want to think about hiring a semi to come to Idaho to buy your hay in bulk (get some others to go in on with you). This year second cutting went for between $100-$150 per ton.

Thanks for the tip buddy!
