Flint Locks and a Percussion

I began building Flint locks under the watchful eye of Hawkeye Keith Casteel, If you know his guns you will recognize the influence of the Curly maple 54 I built 30 years ago. The 50 cal Cherry dose not have a drop of stain on it. I used an acid wash I make to darken the wood, Ivory inlays and brass darkener made this gun look original, so much so I took it to a gun shop to sell and they asked if it was original 2 weeks after I finished in. They said they would not sell it because I am not a known gun maker or it was not original. Butt heads  LOL
Then the 1830 Percussion. I bought it at a yard sale for 5 bucks and replaced the missing wood and bought one of Keith's 20 gauge barrels with internal chocks for turkey hunting. I wanted a sleeper gun and it is all of that with a 55-65 yard range with tight pattern. The 4th rifle is a 40 can percussion made by Joseph Sells in the 1830, Keith and I authenticated it. It's value is $1,400.00- $1,500.00 It's a good shooter in Great contrition.

If anyone is interested in this 40 cal PM me. Great Ladies rifle or squirrel gun.

thmbsup  Reminds me of the kids at the auto parts store that can't get a part without putting make and model in the computer.  I need a set of axle bearings for a 9" Ford rear end.  Make and Model?  1940 Ford but the 9" Ford wasn't created until 1957.  HaHaHaHaHa squirrels em up every time! fncg
