After a couple of communications from people I've had good dealings with, in the past, I thought I ought to check in.
I have gone from being engaged and beginning to get comfortable with our life on 14 acres of land, in a new house, to single and living in a one-bedroom apartment. We had a contractor on the build who is a born-again Christian scumbag thief and liar, and a bank financing our mortgage that didn't give a damn what he was doing to the house. Ann and I broke up under the strain, with me walking out early in December.
That's all I care to say about it. I won't be around, not that I have been for a good while anyway. I don't have much I can think of I want to say to anyone. I never thought much of the human race before this, I made no secret of that, and I think less of the breed now. Some of you all, here, are all right, I don't and won't forget that, but I'm tired and more disappointed than angry or frustrated.
I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. I'm sure things will improve.
I've found in my 75 years that people who wear their religion like a badge need to be watched closely. Religion is something personal that should not to be flaunted to attract business.
I had a chain saw fixed by a "God loving" man. He charged me $15 more than a new replacement would have cost.
Hang in there my friend. Life happens when we plan for something else.. Step back, relax, if possible, and then proceed with caution.
Your friend,
Doug
Sorry to hear about your problem. Some times you have to be like the little black duck and just let the rains of life run off your back, and let the world think you just don't give a cat's rat. Right now just don't let them get your goat. They can't get mine because I will not tell them where it is tied.
If you need someone to talk to PM me and I will give you my #

terrible news , really sorry to hear this has happened , and I know exactly how you feel , having been through it myself . hope things turn around for you , and do so soon ! wishing you all the luck in the world , and may it be good luck , as I believe you`ve had more than enough of the other kind ! remember , hang in there ,and never give up , it pi**es off your enemies !
Mike, sorry to hear about your problems. You're sorely missed by all your friends on this site and I'm sure that if or when you decide to come on back, you'll be welcomed. People say that the Lord never gives you more than you can handle but there are times that I think he must think awful highly of some of us. Take care of yourself, wishing you good luck in the future, and hope to hear from you
later.

I am truly sorry to hear that life has taken such a turn for you.
Mike, you're the last person I'd want to see saddled with such disappointment. I really hate it for you. In all our communications & gun dealings, we have been friends and I've considered you someone to be respected and admired.
It isn't the same with you dropped out; and I hope we'll get to read your posts again, soon.
Hey, Mike! Sorry to hear that things haven't been working out so well for you lately. I am just making my way back into muzzleloading, and was hoping you'd still be here. I have always respected your opinions and admired your work. Don't be gone long!
Mike you know I am here for you in anyway I can be.... Call me...my friend 918-425-4632. Di and I want only the best for you and are here for you...

Ouch brother. Even though I have felt like Job for the last few years, you have me speechless. All I can say is try to move forward and know that almost all of us here are on your side and will do whatever we can (within our limited capabilities) to help. Oh yeah, the worst I have ever been swindled was from a "born again" contractor who proclaimed his honesty with bible quoted pride while planning to rip you off to the furthest limits of his abilities.
Mike, all I can say is that I'm stunned. These kind of things shouldn't happen to anyone, least of all you. It goes without saying that if it is within my power to provide something to you then please don't hesitate to ask.
Haven't seen Mongrel in over a year. Anybody talked or txt'd with him? How's he doin'?
Not being Christian, we've had much more than our share of criticism, being looked down on due to our religion, and nonstop condescending claptrap. My stepfather was a preacher, was sanctimonious and hypocritical and thought he was always right just because he was a "man of God". Mike, I can empathize with you as few can.

Unfortunately for us Mike has not checked in since he wrote the first post in the thread. I have had no luck in contacting him by any means. I am breaking my own rules by keeping him as a member - but I really don't want to remove him until I am forced to.

Give him time. This hobby is too addicting to leave it in your past. I'm hopeful he will pop in eventually.

Factor Red Badger: Ummm OK Motion has been made and seconded that we make Mongral a life member....
(voice from the floor) Point of order Mr. Factor...
Factor Red Badger: Voice from the floor what is your point of Order?
(voice from the floor) A matter of Procedural content Sr...
Factor Red Badger: Voice from the floor you have the floor to justify your point of order.
(voice from the floor) Being that we do not have any membership dues, and that we do not have a life membership position in the files only a category for deceased members who we are aware of. We cannot vote on this motion because it is not valid. Also in that we do have a requirement for membership in our rules to check in every 180 days to keep the Booshways busy and give them something to do ( checking membership and letting the factors know who is overdue and sending them an email from the sites email address) so this motion is invalid. I yield the floor...
Factor Red Badger: (discussion with the parliamentarian)......
Factor Red Badger: This Point of Order is valid and there can be no motion.... Next order of Business

He don't need no stinkin' membership; he's special.
Put him up by Dry Ball, He has influenced a lot of us and I for one and proud to be called his friend. He has few people he would call that years ago and most of them were right here.
Doug/AZ/ID
Please don't shoot the messenger... I was just stating things as I see them - He is still on the site and still is the only one listed as our master gunsmith.... I will not put him up with dryball until I receive word or his passing... Dryball, FieldEMS, MtN Mike, and a few others are the ones who have that distinction that I know of. The have all passed onward and that's what it takes to get that treatment. Mike Lang will be a member and the Master Gunsmith as long as this site stays up, or I get an obituary... Then he will join that high company.
The worst part of this is not knowing that Mike is ok. I am sure there are those of us that know what it is like to break off with someone they loved. The heartbreak of everyday life without that person. All the plans that both made together and the fact that Mike said they were so much alike. The sad part is Mike sold his house to invest in property to build on and lost everything?. I/ we felt that Mike finally hooked up with someone that together both would find life long happiness together. imho Something that Mike needed more than most anything else, imho. To be able to trust the human race, again.
I did try do an online search but to no avail. Need to hear/know that Mike is alive and well.
We/I miss your posts and knowledge. And being able to call and talk with you, on varied subjects. My/ OUR thoughts are with you.

I think you have stated it nicely... I would amend the last sentence to say "OUR" instead of my....
I like to think that Mike and I had as good a friendship as can be had visitin online and by phone, He was as close to me as Dryball in that fashion, and I for one will not let it go. If anyone gets up to friendship ask around and see if you can find any hint of our lost friend, If we can get the message to him that we are with him it might help.
