Watcha gonna do now that walmart is phasing out their fabric sections?   Three here in Tulsa are done and the one near Skiatook is closing the fabric section in early 2011

I use whatever works best in the rifle I'm using. If I use pillow ticking, I cut it wide enough and long enough to fit in  a pill bottle(not PC). I carry the bottle in my shooting bag and lube as needed and cut on the muzzle. When I'm carrying a rifle With a patch box, I carry a roll in the patchbox and do the same. If I'm using precut, icarry them in different size containers. Pill bottles, test strip containers and 35mm film canisters have strips of masking tape  with the size and thickness marked in Magic marker. Empty cap containers are great for 50 cals.  'SNTY"

For now I use pre cut/ and some pre lube, I bought up all that a local gun shop had when he decided to close up! I will be looking into getting fabric for doing it up myself down the road!   so do you micrometer the fabric heavier, for shrinkage after washing? or micrometer it to the size you want?
I do like the pillow ticking the best!!

I've always had a good result with a dry pre-cut linen patch. I keep a wad in my mouth when I'm shooting to keep 'em "lubed".  I end up with a really dry mouth, but the shot is always true,

Like Ironwood, I do like canvas too, as long as they're pretty lightweight.

linen does make for good patching , and while it may not be as tight as ticking I`ve always had good accuracy with it ! by the way , am I the only one to something as odd as squirrel hide ? ;D

Wild Ed

I prefer to cut my patches at the muzzle whether lubed or spit.  ET  'shok'

Maybe the choices should be worded different, because you can get pre-cut, pre-lubed pillow ticking.

Personally, I like to buy unlubed bulk pillow ticking from TOW, lube it with mink oil, and cut at the muzzle.

I have always used .011 or .015 pillow ticking depending on the typ of rifleing of the gun. I generlly use a little Three River lube and cut the patch at the muzzle

I can't remember ever buying anything specifically for patches. Just used whatever was wore out that I had. That's the only good that comes from getting to fat for your jeans. The bad part is I lost a lot of weight and have shot up most of my jeans and shirts. But on the other hand the old ones wont fit now so I have a lot more material than before. I've used tarps, sheets, curtains, vinyl, just whatever was worn out that was on hand at the time.

Rocklock

cut at the muzzle pillow ticking, denim, pocket drill or similar to get thickest patch that works well.

usually precut and lubed, but something different for each rifle, lately Ive been working on a few different .32's  a CVA varminter likes .315 balls and .013 patches (cheap white T shirts) and a TC cherokee likes .311  (lee cast) with a .018 ticking patch  Ive been using hoppes #9 straight as lube but Im setting up to try diff  ratios of ballistol dry lube following Dutch Schultz formula.
