I've got an 1860 2nd Gen Colt, with a spare 2nd gen cylinder, box and papers and a slim jim holster for sale for $575.00, that includes shipping and insurance. I changed (raised), the front site with a dovetail, using an 1858 penny. It's in overall excellent shape and a good shooter, maybe a total of 4 cylinders through it with no jams. Please contact me at my email and I'll send you my Ph# to discuss the gun more with you.

thmbsup Nice! Love one, but the laws up here concerning handguns are just plain impossible. Got a question though, how long does a cylinder last? Can you mess with ball dia.? - average charge ? I figure the only way to get one up here with out all the fooforaw is order piece by piece, just too much durn trouble- for now satisfied with building my own- but who knows! [hmm]

NAULTRICK1, The cylinder will last for as long as the gun does and then some, never heard of one blowing out except the original Walkers. This pistol works real well with a 454rb a lubed wad and 25g fff Goex. Back to the cylinder, you CAN screw up the nipples dry firing the gun, but they are replaceable.

I would not mess with ball dia in a 6 gun when loading the ball you want it to shave a little ring off the ball this is to help keep from having a Chane fire (one hole going off and then the one next to it doing the same )can cause a lot of problems

thmbsup Thanks for the info guys, Hadn't really thought about cap and ball revolver until I hit this site, may be a way around the Canadian handgun law, used ta have a Colt Peacemaker many many years ago, handgun laws were different then, and I was in the service at the time so things were allowed more than today, but seriously gettin interested, Thanks again.

Original cap n ball pistols are not considered firearms in Kanuckistan.  The same goes for Webleys, broomhandle Mausers ect.  Anything made before 1898.  The trouble is our police are not up to snuff regarding firearms laws and will charge you anway just to "be safe". [hmm]

NAULTRICK1

If ya read the regs it says any antique or reproduction (matchlock flintlock Etc. made before 1898 etc etc. until you get to the bottom -except handguns- so if you read it one way they're not considered firearms, but if you ask any cop he reads it to mean any handgun. The letter of the law would only allow you possess flintlocks or matchlocks etc. made before 1898 and no reproductions no matter how period correct unless you have a restricted license and even then it allows them to come and inspect them at any time. And you know what it took to get the restricted and what they want you to do everytime you move them.

alsask

Original guns MADE before 1898 are exempt.  If you had a cap n ball revolver made in the 1860's for example it would be exempt.  Reproduction pistols however are not, like you say, they have to be licenced.

here in Pa , cap and ball revolvers are exempt ,same as any antique made before 1898 , even repro`s ! oddly my trapdoor ,because it fires readily available ammo is treated the same as a modern rifle ,although made in 1884! and it gets stranger ! a c-96 made before 1898 is an antique , and exempt from the usual handgun laws ,but if it was made after 1898 it`s considered a modern weapon , and the fact that it and the pre 1898 pistol fire the same ammo means nothing ! skrt skrt skrt

hdslp ya I know, got the same mish-mash up here, go figure? skrt (susp) guy could always claim ignorance, then when they say that's no excuse, ask THEM to explain the law then----see what happens. pnic
